The Walchand Institute of Technology was established by Shri Aillak Pannalal Digambar Jain Pathashala Trust in July 1983. The college has been judged as having some of the best according to an independent Newspaper study and by team of Directorate of Technical Education, Maharashtra. The Institute is affiliated to the Solapur University, Solapur and approved by the AICTE. The varsity has been recognized and approved by Solapur University as a research centre in the branches of – Electronics Engineering, Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering, Computer Science & Engineering, Civil Engineering and Mechanical Engineering. The Library at provides services & facilities to the requirements of the teaching & research programmes. It has an excellent collection with handbooks on Intel, Motorola and National Semiconductor devices. The collection includes: Books Reference Sources- Dictionaries, Encyclopedias, Handbooks Journals/ Periodicals (Print format): National & International domains E-Journals (IEEE, IET and ACM) Bound Archives of old Periodicals. Magazines / Newsletters / Newspapers Data Manuals- Motorola, Intel, National Semiconductor, etc CDs, VCDs, DVDs, etc. The Reading Hall can accommodate around 120 students at a time. There are 38785 Vols of 16937 titles, 108 National & International journals, 240 Science Direct e-Journals and 18 thousand E-Books at the Departmental Library. There is also a Digital Library facility with 12 systems.
