National Institute of Technology, Hamirpur, established in 1986 as Regional Engineering College, as a joint and cooperative enterprise of the Govt. of India and Govt. of Himachal Pradesh. Being a residential institute, there are nine boys' hostels and two girls' hostels, with residences for the faculty and staff. Mega Hostel is the newest and largest in its capacity. It is one of the thirty National Institutes of Technology established, administered and funded by Government of India.
