A new IIIT in Jharkhand is to launch its pioneer batch in the academic session of 2016-2017. To this end a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was signed by the State Government with the Ministry of Human resource development and three partners from the private sector Tata Consultancy Service, Tata Motors and Central Coalfield ltd. in New Delhi on 12 December 2015.


A budget of 128 crores has been set for this with the centre bearing 50% of the costs the state government will bear 35% of the costs and the private industry partners will contribute 5% each.


III Ranchi will induct students through the Joint Entrance Exam (JEE) for the academic session 2016- 2017 with 120 students; 60 each in Information Technology, Electronics and Communication.


The infrastructure will span over 68 acres of which 52 have already been acquired in Village Sanga in Kanka town Ranchi, while the construction of the campus is yet to begin. The temporary campus that will house the students will be finalized after an MHRD Joint Secretary visits Ranchi in the last weeks of December 2015.

Q. - What if an applicant who has cleared his class 12th in 2014, but is sitting for an improvement exam in 2015, in such a case what should the student fill in the academic details section.

 

Answer. In this case a candidates has to which years marks are better and then has to select the year and corresponding roll number in the first step of application form of JEE (Main) – 2016.

For a candidate who has cleared his/her class 12th in 2015 and is sitting for an improvement exam in 2016 may follow one of two paths:

 

He may fill in the the year of appearing for class 12th as 2016 and fill the remaining form correctly. After the result of the examination are declared, there are provisions on the website to fill in the roll number of class 12 for the year in which there is a better result. Alternatively, he/she may fill in the year of passing class 12th as 2015. In the second step of application form select ‘yes’ in the column – appearing for improvement examination

 

 

Q. – Will the applicant form be rejected if a student has not written the name and the date on the photograph?

 

Answer. No. However it is preferable if the name and date is mentioned on the photograph.

 

Q. - What contact number should an NRI or Foreign student furnish?

 

Answer. In such a case, the contact number of a relative may be furnished.

 

Q. - Can the mode of examination be changed?

 

Answer. Yes

 

Q. - When can corrections be made on the application form?

 

Answer. The correction in particulars can be done once the candidates have competed all the steps of the registration (including payment of the fee). Correction of details can be made in the latter half January, 2016.

 

Q. - While paying the fee, what a candidate can do in case of failed transaction?

 

Answer. In case of a failed transaction, the amount will be refunded. However, such candidates may also send a copy of the failed transaction’s e-challan through e-mail on jeemain@nic.in.

 

Q. – What is the Eligibility for private candidates?

 

Answer. Only candidates who have passed their Class 12th Exam in 2014 or 2015; or who are appearing in their Class 12th Exam in 2016 may sit for JEE (Main) - 2016. Candidates who cleared their Class 12th in 2013 are not eligible. Candidates who sat for their class 12th in 2013, but passed in 2014 are also not eligible. This criteria is the same for both private and regular candidates. Private candidate may fill in ‘xxx’ in the column for the school name.

 

Q. - In case a student fails to book his session for online examination, how will the date and session of the examination be fixed?

 

Answer. The candidate will be assigned a slot and date as per the availability of the same. Details of session and slot will be mentioned on the admit card.

 

Q. - What is Eligibility for Diploma Students in JEE-Main 2016?

 

Answer. Yes, to appear in JEE (Advanced) a diploma holder may sit for JEE Main 2016 but His/her score for JEE (Main) will not be declared as diploma holders cannot apply for NITs and CFTIs through JEE (Main).

 

Q. - Name of the boards recognized under Association of Indian Universities.

 

Answer. You may visit the website for Association of Indian Universities (www.aiuweb.org).

 

Q. - What are HSC vocational courses?

 

Answer. Different boards often have different HSC vocational courses, so students will have to verify it from their Board.
