The Gandhi Institute of Engineering and Technology (GIET) is located in Gunupur, Odisha. It was established in 1997 with the approval of AICTE and Government of Odisha. The varsity is affiliated to Biju Patnaik University of Technology, The NAAC has awarded them an "A" certificate. GIET has NBA Accreditation for five B.Tech courses - Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering and Information Technology. The Central library or Knowledge centre is 24 hrs opened, air-conditioned and has a reading hall capacity of 500 students. There are 32 hostels. 22 hostel for boys and 10 hostel for girls with total 3,500 capacity. Every hostel is provided with telephone, cable TV, newspapers, magazines, indoor and outdoor games, water purifiers, voltage stabilizers and generators etc.
